The artist behind this scarf is textile artist Ilme Rätsep — one of Estonia’s most distinctive silk painters, whose work always carries the spirit of both nature and ancient cultures. A graduate of the Estonian State Art Institute’s fashion programme in 1982, Rätsep has dedicated most of her creative life to hand-painted silk. Ilme Rätsep is a member of the Estonian Artists’ Union and the Estonian Textile Artists’ Union, with work exhibited across Estonia. Every scarf she creates is a one-of-a-kind original.
