What is cotton sateen?

The terms satin and sateen are often confused. Although both fabrics are made with a satin weave (where four warp threads run over and one under), their composition is different. Sateen is always a 100% cotton fabric, while satin can be made of silk, nylon, or polyester.

The uniqueness of sateen lies in its subtle sheen and density, while the underside of the fabric remains matte. This feature is not only visually beautiful but also practical – the bedding stays in place better and ensures a comfortable sleep. Because of this, sateen is particularly valued for making cotton sateen bedding and high-quality duvet covers.

The fabric factory in Poland is located in the historic Łódź region, known for its long-standing textile production traditions. Some of our fabrics start their journey in Pakistan, where high-quality raw fabric is produced. The fabric then moves to Italy for further processing – fabric preparation, digital printing, and finishing. This multi-stage process ensures the best possible result in terms of both quality and design.

Digital printing – durable and detailed design

All Uneleja bedding patterns are applied to the fabric using modern digital printing technology.

The printing process takes place in Poland or Italy, depending on the product and its dimensions. The result is durable and colorful bedding that maintains its appearance even after repeated washing and ironing. Our digitally printed fabrics are built to last – colors don’t fade, and patterns stay as beautiful as the first day.

Easy care and practicality

In addition to aesthetics, the practicality of bedding is also important. Cotton sateen is a wrinkle-resistant and easy-to-care-for material. If desired, it can be ironed at a temperature suitable for cotton, but often it’s not even necessary.

Our bedding handles washing well at 60°C, which helps ensure cleanliness and hygiene. Thanks to the high-quality fabric and finish, the bedding retains its shape, softness, and appearance even after frequent use.
